A Nap in a Warm Patch of Sunshine

A Nap in a Warm Patch of Sunshine

In Japanese, a daytime nap is called 昼寝（ひるね、hirune）. Imagine taking one in a 暖かい陽だまり（あたたかいひだまり）—a warm patch of sunlight streaming through a window.

The sun falls across the floor, and the quiet warmth makes your eyes feel heavy. For a little while, there is nowhere else you need to be. You close your eyes and drift into a gentle nap.

A short rest in a sunny spot can feel like a small gift in the middle of the day. When you wake, the light is still there, and you may feel ready to return to whatever comes next. Sometimes, a warm patch of sunshine and a little sleep are all we need.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

I was born and raised in Japan and have spent most of my adult life in the United States. Through this blog, I share Japanese culture, language, expressions, and wisdom. My goal is not to say one culture is better, but to explore different perspectives and what we can learn from them.

Your comments are always welcome.
