Genki Curry (げんきカレー) in Kashihara, Nara Prefecture. The system is called Mirai Ticket (みらいチケット), or "Future Ticket."

 

Here's how it works:

 

A customer enjoys a meal.
When paying, they can add 200 yen to buy a Mirai Ticket.
The ticket is written on and placed on a board inside the restaurant.
Any child who needs a meal can take one of those tickets from the wall and exchange it for a free curry—without having to explain their financial situation or ask for charity.
The idea has since spread to many restaurants across Japan. Some places use paper tickets, while others use colorful ribbons ("Food Ribbon"), but the principle is the same: pay it forward so a child can enjoy a meal with dignity.

 

I think it's one of those simple Japanese ideas that creates a big social impact. Rather than giving money directly, people buy hope in the form of a meal, and the child receives it just like any other customer. There is no paperwork, no questions, and no embarrassment—just a curry and the kindness of a stranger.
