Japan Business Travel: Where Do You Stay in Tokyo—and How Do You Choose?
When you travel to Tokyo for business, how do you decide where to stay?
This is something I often wonder—not just for visitors from overseas, but also for people living in Japan.
Do you automatically choose a business hotel chain like APA, Tokyu Stay, Dormy Inn, Super Hotel, or Route Inn because of convenience, price, and station access?
Or do you prefer city hotels like Hilton, Marriott, New Otani, Okura, or Prince Hotels for comfort, meetings, status, or simply a better experience?
Tokyo gives you endless choices, but that also raises bigger questions:
What matters most to you?
Location?
Price?
Loyalty points?
Hotel brand?
Breakfast?
Onsen?
English support?
Station proximity?

And how do you book?
Do you go directly through the hotel’s website?
Use Expedia, Booking.com, or Hotels.com?
Or, if you live in Japan, do you rely more on 一休 (Ikkyu), 楽天トラベル, or じゃらん?

I suspect Japanese travelers and overseas visitors may choose very differently.
Some may prioritize efficiency and cost.
Others may focus on comfort, image, or rewards.

So I’m curious:
When you travel to Tokyo for business, where do you stay—and why?
