Ignore Troll

An internet troll is someone who deliberately posts provocative, aggressive, or disruptive comments online to upset others, create conflict, or derail meaningful discussion. Their goal is often not to share ideas, but to trigger emotional reactions.

 

Trolls commonly use extreme opinions, personal attacks, misinformation, or exaggerated statements to attract attention. They may jump into political or social discussions simply to inflame tensions, divide people, or turn comment sections into chaos.

 

The term “troll” is often compared to fishing—throwing out bait and waiting for someone to bite. In this case, the bait is a provocative comment, and the reward is your reaction.

 

That is why one of the best-known internet rules is: “Don’t feed the troll.”

 

Responding emotionally often gives trolls exactly what they want. In many cases, ignoring, blocking, or calmly disengaging is far more effective.

 

It is also important to remember that disagreement alone does not make someone a troll. Honest debate and different opinions are normal. The difference is intent.
