Public support for Sanae Takaichi is still relatively strong—but it is clearly softening.

 

The latest polling shows approval around 53%, down from earlier levels. That kind of shift doesn’t happen without reason.

 

From what I am seeing and hearing in Japan right now, the issue is not ideology—it’s execution.

 

Several topics that were strongly associated with her agenda are now either quiet or stalled:

 

The discussion about removing the sales tax on food has faded
The proposed law regarding the Japanese flag has not progressed
No visible movement on broader security or structural policy issues
People understand that change takes time. But they also expect to see direction.

 

There’s an old saying:
Talk is cheap. Action is hard.

 

And in this case, it may be even harder when trying to drive change within the Liberal Democratic Party—a large, complex, and often internally divided organization.

 

Right now, the mood feels like this:
Support is still there—but patience is starting to wear thin.

 

In business, we often say:
“Promises create expectations. Execution builds trust.”
