I woke up early this morning, took a shower, and had a simple breakfast before heading out for my usual morning walk. Even though it was still dark when I arrived at Bellevue Downtown Park around 7:15 a.m., the park was already quietly alive—just a few early walkers, joggers, and the soft glow of streetlights reflecting on the wet paths.
It was quite cold today, about 39 degrees Fahrenheit, and the winter air felt sharp on my face. Still, the walk felt good. I ended up walking about 4,000 steps, which is a nice way to wake both the body and the mind before a full day of work. There is something peaceful about walking in the dark, cold morning—it gives you time to think before the noise of the day begins.
After the walk, I stopped by Panera Bread to pick up a dozen bagels for the office. Buying bagels every Tuesday has become a small routine for me, something simple but meaningful. It is not a big thing, but I like the idea of bringing a small treat that everyone can enjoy together when the workday starts.
When I arrived at the office, no one was there yet except the people working the night shift, quietly taking care of the servers and network. They are the ones who keep everything running while most of us are asleep, and seeing them at that hour is a quiet reminder of how much unseen work goes into keeping our systems alive.
I hope the bagels help start the morning on a positive note for everyone when the rest of the team arrives. Small things like this may not seem important, but they add a little warmth to the start of a cold winter day.
