When I started PSPINC, I was 27 years old.
I was young, inexperienced, and had just come from Japan. I had little to no formal business experience in the United States. I didn’t have a strong network, investors, or a detailed roadmap. What I did have was the willingness to learn, to work, and to take responsibility for my decisions.

 

That company has now lasted 38 years.

 

I often hear people say they can’t start a business because they lack experience, capital, connections, or the “right timing.” But the truth is, almost no one starts with everything in place. Experience comes from doing. Connections come from showing up. Confidence comes from surviving mistakes and learning from them.

 

Starting a business is not about being perfect. It is about being persistent. You make mistakes, you fix them, and you move forward. Some years are good, some are difficult, but if you stay disciplined and honest with your work, the business slowly builds a foundation.

 

So I ask again: what is stopping you?
Most of the time, the stop sign exists only in your head.

 

When you start something, people will help you. They give advice, introductions, and encouragement—at least until you become more successful than they are 😉. That’s just human nature. But by then, you no longer need permission or validation. You’ve already built momentum.

 

Now, let me be clear about one thing.

 

I am not super successful by Silicon Valley standards. I would like my company to be bigger. There is always room to grow.
But I am happy.

 

We have no debt, stable products, and great staff. We build things we believe in, we take care of our customers, and we sleep well at night. In Japanese, there is a saying: 分相応（Bun-sō-ō）. It means knowing your proper scale—living and operating within what truly fits you, without excess, arrogance, or reckless ambition.

 

Growth is important, but sustainability matters more. Success is not just about size or headlines. It is about balance, responsibility, and longevity.

 

Not your age.
Not your background.
Not your lack of experience.

 

The only thing that can truly stop you is deciding not to start.
