Things to Keep in Mind When Building a Program

When building a program, many people initially face the challenge of overthinking. Before writing any code, they often anticipate every possible scenario, making them overwhelmed: “What if this happens?” Or “What if the users it this way?” As a result, development stalls, or the design becomes unnecessarily complex.

Of course, developers need to design with various usage environments and user behaviors in mind for publicly-released applications. Since we don't know who will use it, where, or on what device, efforts to enhance versatility and stability are essential.

However, the situation is different for systems with limited users and environments, such as internal company systems or business-specific applications. For these systems, the most crucial step consists of clearly defining the data input and output’s basic flow of data. By defining the input and output clearly and minimizing the processing, you can build a smooth and maintainable program.

A common trap for many programmers is losing simplicity in the pursuit of perfection. If you keep adding code to cover every possible case, the system eventually becomes heavy, difficult to understand, and hard to modify. As a result, it leads in the opposite direction of its initial goal of efficiency.

That’s why it’s vital to start simple when building a program. Begin with a basic working version, known as an MVP (Minimum Viable Product), and then improve it based on actual usage. I believe this iterative process is the fastest path to developing an efficient and effective system.

We strive to be a reliable partner for companies that prioritize business results.
