A Message For Those Considering Entrepreneurship
This message is for long-time employees of a company or organization who are now considering going independent to start their own company. There are a few things I'd like you to understand.
First and foremost, recognize that the fundamental mindset is completely different between working under someone else and working independently.
Achieving results within an organization is, of course, a commendable accomplishment. However, even if it was something you could do, it isn't your achievement. You realized your results as an employee within the company’s framework and under management’s direction. Therefore, it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll achieve these results as an independent business owner.
When people aspire to start their own business, they often say things like, I’ve experienced this before, Others have evaluated me, or This is how I've contributed to society. Unfortunately, these statements have little meaning when it comes to managing a business independently, because they have achieved these things within someone else’s organization.
Metaphorically speaking, a general who becomes king is similar to what it’s like to become independent from a business. A general leads an army under the command of a king. A king, however, makes their own decisions, bears their own responsibilities, and builds a country from the ground up without anyone's instructions.
Therefore, you won't make progress with the mindset of gathering friends to start a group or discussing it with everyone, and then creating a company. Starting a business isn't something you begin with a large group. Instead, you start it by yourself. You build the form yourself.
Only after that can you truly start a business by adding the people you need to grow the organization.
Independence means assuming all decision-making, bearing the risks, and taking responsibility yourself. Instead of waiting for someone to help you, you must first take action into your own hands. The accumulation of these actions will eventually grow into a company, a business, and an entity that influences society.
So, if you feel like you want to become independent, first try to see how much you can do by yourself before relying on others. That is the first step to becoming a true entrepreneur.
